    Access Granted
I booked another appointment at the gym yesterday to try to make them let me in and thankfully I passed the entry requirements fairly easily this time. This was then followed by the completely pointless partial induction into the gym. In some ways I'm happy that they're putting in the effort to make sure that everyone knows how to use the equipment right but after going to the places on and off for over 17 years now it's rather dull. I have to go back on Monday to be shown how to use the weights machines.

This weekend we're off to Mark's birthday party tonight and walking on Sunday morning. No plans on Saturday yet.

Mainly because I liked the color it gave me.
    you are darkslateblue
    #483D8B

Your dominant hue is blue, making you a good friend who people love and trust. You're good in social situations and want to fit in. Just be careful not to compromise who you are to make them happy.

Your saturation level is medium - You're not the most decisive go-getter, but you can get a job done when it's required of you. You probably don't think the world can change for you and don't want to spend too much effort trying to force it.

Your outlook on life can be bright or dark, depending on the situation. You are flexible and see things objectively.

What Flavour Are You? Cor blimey, I taste like Tea.Cor blimey, I taste like Tea.

I am a subtle flavour, quiet and polite, gentle, almost ambient. My presence in crowds will often go unnoticed. Best not to spill me on your clothes though, I can leave a nasty stain. What Flavour Are You?

I've had a busy few weekends recently with lots of birthday parties, wedding and other social occasions.

I had a nice weekend away in Cambridge a couple of weeks ago for my cousins wedding. It was the first time I'd been and it was very interesting to see one of the colleges.

Last week we went to Darren and Heidi's for dinner.

This week was Nehves(sp) naming day followed by Mel and Adams party. I had fun and was glad to see that europe has a sense of humor after a death metal band won eurovision. The day long drinking and grazing on buffet food left me in a bit of a state for most of Sunday but after lots of tea, a flapjack and around 5 hours of firefly I just about managed to reach escape velocity.

    Strangely calm
Everyone at work is much, much calmer and more resonable than before Christmas.

The world would be a much better place if work closed down for a week every three months so that people can chill.

    I'm free!!!
I am now no longer in a contract. I am a free spirit ready and willing to spend large amounts of the summer in cocktail bars and lunching with friends.

Tonight I plan to drink a bottle of champaign and celebrate. I can't get too drunk however because I'm going to go to a yoga course tomorrow and the theme is balance. This will involve having to balance on various parts of my anatomy and could prove hard if I've got a big hangover.

    MFI are useless b&$t&rd$
MFI delivery men turned up with only 75% of the order correct. I'm now left with a bunch of bits of which I am able to construct maybe 50% of the total furniture. Earliest delivery time for the items they missed? The 4th of May.

How do four boxes of the wrong furniture get all the way from a central distribution area without anyone noticing until the delivery drivers unload it? Someone put those boxes onto the truck and they obviously weren't doing their jobs properly.

    Birthday
One of the reasons I haven't phoned around about this yet is because I can't quite decide what to do. Here's are some options so vote now if you're free and would like to join me on Saturday.

    1. Sod the weather and go to Alton Towers anyway.

    2. Go out for a day of drinking in Manchester and maybe find a cocktail bar
      or two.

    3. Fire up the Chiminea and have a BBQ at my place.

    4. Something far more original and interesting (please fill in box below)

It's my birthday on Sunday and I'm going to celebrate on Saturday. I was thinking of going to Alton Towers but unfortunately the weather looks like it's not going to be good. I therefore need to think of something else cool to do...

    Wired
This morning / early afternoon was spent pulling up floorboard and laminate flooring to lay ethernet cable to the lounge. This is the first stage in a plan to wire up the rooms in such a way that I can stream music and video around the house and consign my CD collection to a cupboard. I manage to complete the wiring without causing too much damage and have ordered the first of the remote music players. I have also started a trial subscription to Napster and I can recommend it. It's 5.95 a month, they have over a million tracks and you get to stream as much music as you like from their site. I'm canceling the movies and sports on NTL because I never really watch them so the money saved there can pay for it.

Early evening was another Ashtanga Yoga session with the rest of the evening on the couch eating and watching the last two episodes of 24 season 2.

    Sunny Day
Yesterday was a fun packed day of wandering around in the sun and going to the theatre in the evening.

We went to heaton park for a walk in the sunshine and were planning to have a go at pitch an putt but it was very busy. Instead we decided to row around heaton park boating lake for a bit which was fun.

In the evening we headed into Manchester for an early dinner and then onto the royal exchange theatre to watch Antony and Cleopatra. It was a good performance and the acting, sets and costumes were excellent. There was a whole sun and moon / gold and silver thing going on that worked very well.

    Stuff and things
Friday and another week over. It's been rather a sedate week and I haven't done loads although I have managed to keep up the Yoga.

Work is still quiet and I think I'm going to spend the slack time I have here updating some of my qualifications. I've haven't done any exams for ages and it's about time I did.

I have also watched the first of the new Dr Who series and it's quite cool. The effects in this episode, while a vast improvement, were still well below the standards present in series like Buffy, Farscape etc. I'll still watch it but without the necessary eye candy I don't think it will do well in the states.

Now that the weather is improving I'm finding myself considerably more motivated to go and do stuff. I'd like to start running a regular martial arts training session but I need to get a few people together to help cover the costs of the hall and make it interesting. The other problem I have is that I can't open it to general public because I don't have insurance. If there's anyone out there interested in training in a fairly eclectic mix of martial arts then drop me a note. I'd like to try to make it 'internal' and 'alive'; although a lot of people would claim that's oxymoronic.
